We're shipping two highly requested improvements that give admins and managers more flexibility, and make it easier for HR teams to stay in the loop.

Manage Past Leave Requests

Admins can now create or delete leave requests in past dates.

This makes it easier to:

• Fix mistakes in previously submitted requests
• Add leave retroactively (for cases like sick leave or missed submissions)
• Keep leave balances accurate without workarounds

This gives organizations full control over who can modify historical data.

As always, permissions stay clean and predictable.

Forward Leave Notifications to Multiple Emails

You can now automatically forward leave requests and approval notifications to additional email addresses.

This is especially helpful for:

• HR departments that need proof of requests and approvals
• Shared inboxes (e.g. hr@, people@, etc.)
• Record-keeping and compliance purposes

You can configure this under:

Settings → General → Forward Leave Notifications

Simply enable the toggle and add one or more email addresses to receive copies of all leave activity.

Clear CANCELED Status with Full Details

Canceled leave requests now display a clear CANCELED status badge.

Hovering over the info icon reveals:

• Who canceled the request
• The exact date and time of cancellation

This adds an extra layer of transparency and auditability, especially useful when combined with forwarded notifications.

These improvements were directly shaped by customer feedback — keep it coming.

A redesigned "Create Leave Type"

We’ve refreshed the leave type setup to make it easier to understand and use across devices. You’ll notice:

• A cleaner, more intuitive layout.
• Better grouping of related fields.
• Smoother editing and full mobile responsiveness.

Creating and managing leave types is now faster and more straightforward.

Reorganized Account & Profile settings

We’ve restructured the settings to make the distinction between Account and Profile clear:

• Account → your login (email) and preferences. Can connect to multiple organizations.
• Profile → your personal and work information within each organization.

You’ll now find Account Settings and Go to my profile directly in the top-right menu for easier navigation.

We’ve made a couple of improvements to make leave requests smoother and more transparent:

• Clearer leave balance while requesting: When submitting a leave request, you’ll now see how many days you’re requesting and how many days remain under that policy. No more guesswork before hitting submit
• Auto-approval when you’re your own manager: For smaller teams with flat structures, or anyone managing themselves, leave requests are now auto-approved. One less click, one less bottleneck.

Both updates are designed to save you time and give you clarity while using Birdie.

Better Profiles, Smoother Onboarding

We’ve made a round of improvements to help you manage team members more efficiently and get started with Birdie more confidently:

Redesigned Profile Layout

Cleaner, clearer, and easier to scan. We've revamped the layout of member profiles so you can find the info you need faster.

New "Leaves" Tab for Admins

Admin users can now view leave balances and history for each team member in a dedicated tab. No more digging around!

Improved Member Deactivation Flow

We’ve refactored how member deactivation works to make it more robust and transparent. Deactivating a member now immediately removes their access while keeping the process safe and clear.

Onboarding Enhancements

While we’re working on delivering a complete and seamless onboarding flow, we’ve made some interim improvements. New users now receive helpful content and guidance directly within Birdie, with quick links to our documentation and an easy way to reach out for help setting up their account—either via email or by booking a short setup call with our team.

We just shipped the first version of our Google Calendar integration to help you and your team stay even more aligned.

No more switching tabs - now your team’s time off syncs directly with your calendar!

What’s included in this first release:

• Sync your team's time off to Google Calendar
• See upcoming leaves in your calendar for better planning
• Improve visibility across teams, especially in distributed setups

• Public holidays are now highlighted with subtle stripes and a country flag — currently tailored per location
